Curepipe

Here is a town in an island nation that is the curiously named Curepipe of Mauritius and since, very few places have a totally apt name, and this one has the simplistic, straightforward one. • Churches: A place of solitude, a silent prayer for yourself, a link to your inner soul. The St. Therese church founded in 1869 and the St. Helene church are your perfect get-away from the maddening crowd.
• Shopping: The town has the Monoprix-Prisunic supermarket. It has excellent places for shopping for items as handmade ship models, duty free jewellery, Indian silks and cottons, Chinese embroideries and handicraft, woolen jumpers and so on. Cure pipe is also the only town to accommodate a European-style casino
• Royal College and the Carnegie Library: Take a peek in the oldest education center of the town – the Royal College. And, Carnegie loyalists rejoice as you visit the writer’s library. The trip will definitely, be enlightening as it opens the knowledge gates.

Port Louis

At the southwest in the Indian Ocean is located the beautiful island country Mauritius with its Capital City and the only port city Port Louis. With its primary focus on the sugarcane growing and sugar refining accounts, the city boasts to have one of the most modernized special sugar docks in the world. Founded by Mahe de Labourdonnais, the French governor, in the year 1735 Port Louis present an intense mix of cultures. Due to its free zone today the city is an economical haven and has a growth in trade as well as people daily. • Port Louis Bazaar: The Port Louis Bazaar is located between Farquar Street and Queen Street. This large market was built in the year 1828 and has experienced a lot of fire outbreaks. But it has risen from the ruins repeatedly. The market opens very early in the morning presenting its mixed culture face. This is a typical market where you will find every thing from spiced tea to meat, from fruits to spices. Every trader is trying to attract you to his stall by calling out and boasting about the freshness of his goods. The area behind Farquar Street also has the market extended where mostly vegetables and fruits are sold. More over there are also some gift shops on this street as well as restaurants where typical Mauritian food and snacks is served.
• The China Town: You can visit the China while you take a stroll through China Town in old Port Louis area. Even the language here has a very heavy Chinese accent. Every shop here sells every possible product from second hand spare parts to Chinese Paintings. Books, toys and also medicines are sold in the same shops. The aroma of Chinese food fills the air and gives you a feeling that you are in China.
• Place d’Armes: Though this is the oldest part of Port Louis, the old buildings are replaced by modern structures and roads. However, this still remains a must visit point while visiting Port Louis as this is the main entrance and exit of Port Louis. Place d’Armes is a point from where visitors start their city tour, like the Roman Catholic Church St. Louis, Church of England St. James, Theatre of Indian Ocean as well as the Original Government House. This Government House is very close to Place d’Armes and is built in French Style. Mauritius was under the Great Britain governance between 1810 and 1968 and the statue of Queen Victoria is the witness of that period.
• Jhumma Mosque: Built in 19th Century and located right in the middle of the Chinese locality is the Jhumma Mosque towering magnificently with all its beautiful sculptures and structure.
