Valletta

Valletta is the capital city of Malta; the City of Valletta was officially recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980 because of it’s historic importance and its 16th century architectural heritage, the city dates back to 16th century and is also sometimes referred to as City of Knights. The city is located in the central-eastern portion of the island of Malta and has many an attractions like the Palace of the Grand Masters, The Upper Barakka Gardens, Manoel Theatre and more for visitors to explore.

• Museums: Valletta seems to have a museum on every corner; many of Valletta’s museums are former palaces like the Armoury Museum and the Malta War Museum, other notable museums are The Cathedral Museum, The National Museum of Archaeology, The National Museum of Fine Art and more.
• St. John’s Co Cathedral: St. John’s Co Cathedral was built by the Knights of Malta between 1573 and 1578, the cathedral is famous for it’s impressive interiors.

Gozo

Gozo Island is an island in the Southern European country Malta; it is second largest after the island of Malta itself within the archipelago. Gozo is also sometimes known by it’s nickname the Isle of Calypso. Gozo has scenic hills, historical locations such as the Ġgantija temples, which are the world’s oldest free-standing structures, as well as the world’s oldest religious structures.

• Ramla il-Hamra: Ramla il-Hamra is one of the best if not the best beach in Gozo, the name Ramla il-Hamra means red sands, the beach is named so as the sand here is reddish in color, the beach is less developed and hence it is less crowded.
• Rotunda church: The Rotunda church in situated in the village of Xewkija, it is the largest church in Gozo and was built in honor of St. John the Baptist and a good place to visit.
• Azure Window: The Azure Window is located on the west coast of Gozo along with the Inland Sea and the Blue Hole. It is perhaps one of the most spectacular natural landmarks in Maltese archipelago; it is actually a cliff outcropping with a hole in the middle.
• Museum of Archaeology: The Museum of Archaeology is located inside the walls of the Citadel in Victoria behind the Old Gate; the museum has a 17th century building that was originally the Town Hall. It is great place to learn more about the history of Gozo.
• Ggantija Temples: Ggantija is the site of two prehistoric temples, two massive megaliths were carved into temples by the pre-Phoenician Gozitans somewhere between 4,100 and 2,500 BC, One of the Ggantija temples is the oldest stone structure in the world, predating Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids by hundreds of years.
