What to see and what to do in Chile?

Santiago

Santiago is the capital and the biggest city of Chile. The city has a beautiful backdrop of snowcapped mountains of the Andes; the city was founded in 1541 and is the oldest city in the country. Santiago is on of the best and modern capitals in the whole of Latin America and has a lot to offer to travelers like the museums, La Moneda Palace. Parque Forestal, Hidalgo Castle and more; also within an hour from Santiago one can find many outdoor opportunities like, hiking, skiing, hot springs and more.

Museums of Santiago

Parque Metropolitano
One of the best destinations in Santiago, Parque Metropolitano is a big park. The park can be reached by a cable car or a long hike; one can get a beautiful view of the city from here. The park also has a botanical garden, zoo and two swimming pools.

Plaza De Armas
Plaza De Armas is the main plaza of Santiago, here is where the national cathedral is located, the place has significant historic value.

Valparaiso

Valparaíso is an important city of Chile as it is one of that country’s most important seaports; the city has served as a major stopover for ships traveling between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans by crossing the Straits of Magellan in the 19th century. The city is located in central Chile and houses the National Congress although Santiago is the national capital. Valparaíso is rich in architecture and culture and hence was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Easter Island

Easter Island is an island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean; it is one of the most isolated inhabited islands on the planet located 3,700 km off the west coast of Chile. The island is a special territory of Chile and is world famous for its monumental statues called moai created by the Rapa Nui people. The history of the islands is still some what unclear as of today but never the less it is a world heritage site with much of the island protected within the Rapa Nui National Park.

The Moai
Easily the biggest tourist attractions on Easter Island are the Moai statues; these are the large stone statues found mostly along the coastline. A total of 887 monolithic stone statues have been inventoried on the island and in museum collections.
