What to see and what to do in Argentina?

Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, is more European in flavor than American. Buenos Aires, which means ‘Fair Winds’ in Spanish, lives up to the expectations of any traveler. One could take a stroll and marvel at the architectural glory, at grand avenues and colorfully painted metal houses. Buenos Aires is a bustling, cosmopolitan city where you can party all night or dine in style at an old time café or fancy restaurant. Spring and fall are the best times to visit this marvelous city.

Teatro Colon
The Teatro Colon is on the most important lyrical theaters of the world. The mot important musicians, directors and dancers performed at this theatre during the 20th century. The horseshoe shaped main hall of the theatre is considered as one of the best acoustics halls in the world. Paintings by Raul Soldi decorate the theatre’s dome. The majestic theatre has a stable cast, a costume workshop, a set design workshop, an orchestra, a museum and a library.

Botanical Gardens
Spread over a few acres with many tree lined pathways the garden is a true delight. The garden has a variety of plants from around the globe especially from Argentina and South America. I trip to the garden could also be educational. The garden also doubles as picnic spot and lover’s cocoon.

Casa Rosada
Casa Rosada, a pale pink building, is the official presidential residence and the government headquarters of Argentina. The first-floor balcony on the building’s north is used by the country’s leaders. It was once used by Eva Peron to speak to the huge crown that had gathered below. Tourists can also photograph the Granaderos guarding the building.

Caminito Street Museum
Since 1959, The Calle Museo Caminito has been functioning as an art market and open air museum. The museum is a colorful stretch of pedestrian zone where one can find paintings, photographs of local attractions, souvenirs, sculptures and even live tango demonstrations. A tango gives the museum its name.

Barrancas de Belgrano-Hilltop Park
This beautiful park, situated in Belgrano was once the limit of the Rio de La Plata. The park is creatively landscaped and well maintained. The park is ideal for playing chess under the giant trees, to unleash pets, for a small picnic or to just relax with someone special.

Iglesia Santa Catalina-Glided Church
Founded in 1745, the Iglesia Santa Catalina was the first convent in Buenos Aires. This pretty church lies just behind Galerias Pacifico and across Centro Cultural Borges. The inside of the church is decorated with beautiful glided works and a Baroque altarpiece by Spanish carver Isidro Lorea.
